Community scores in McGowan Government’s latest round of sport grants

Delivering on McGowan Government election commitment

The McGowan Government has today announced $12.5 million funding is available under the latest round of Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund grants.

Delivering on its election promise, the McGowan Government's CSRFF grants will provide increased financial assistance to community organisations and local governments for the development of community sport and recreation infrastructure.

The grants are aimed at encouraging more participation in sport and recreation through the development of basic infrastructure.

Community groups and local government authorities can apply for grants towards projects such as new or upgraded playing surfaces, changerooms and ablutions, and sports storage.

Of the $12.5 million budget, $1 million per year for the next four years has been specifically set aside for projects that increase female participation in sport and recreation, such as unisex changerooms.

A further $10 million over four years will be invested in the new Club Night Lights Program (CNLP), providing financial assistance to community groups and local governments to develop sports floodlighting infrastructure.

The CSRFF and CNLP are administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC).

Applications for both programs close on September 30, 2021.
