Brighter futures for youth
14 July 2020
• Minister for Youth, Hon Dave Kelly MLA presented Youth Futures WA Inc (Youth Futures) with a Lotterywest grant at Joondalup Lotteries House
• Youth Futures will receive $100,000 as part of the COVID-19 Relief Fund
Minister for Youth, Hon Dave Kelly MLA presented Mark Waite, CEO of local community group Youth Futures, with a Lotterywest grant of $100,000 today.
Joining Minister Kelly and Mr Waite at Youth Futures’ base in Joondalup was local Member of Parliament, Emily Hamilton MLA and Lotterywest’s Antony Feldhusen.
This round of funding goes towards replacing foregone revenue from events cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
It will be used to benefit disadvantaged at risk young women and their families who face homelessness in the north metropolitan region.
The grant is in addition to $50,800 already delivered to Youth Futures in May this year.
Youth Futures provides homelessness support, alternative education and training, as well as other emergency relief and services, for at risk youth.
Comments attributed to Emily Hamilton:
“Youth Futures is a fantastic organisation in our electorate doing some really good work to help youth in our community. This funding will mean they’re able to do more of this work.
The McGowan government had to adapt swiftly to the changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure there is more immediate support for Western Australians in this time of need.
“Western Australia is fortunate to be home to Lotterywest, the only State Government owned lottery in Australia where all the profits are returned to the community.”
