Plans progressing on new Heathridge BMX Track
- Cook Labor Government delivered $600,000 to progress new BMX track
- Tender for design and construction awarded to Three Chillies Design Pty Ltd
- Project to provide space for locals to be physically active and foster social connection
Emily Hamilton MLA, Member for Joondalup, is pleased to share that the tender for the design, supply and construction of the BMX track at Lysander Park in Heathridge has been awarded to Three Chillies Design Pty Ltd.
This significant community infrastructure will provide a wonderful location for local kids and families to be physically active and foster social connection, especially among young people.
Ms Hamilton has advocated for the new BMX track due to her understanding through conversations with local residents, families, parents, school communities and the Connolly Residents Association. All have raised concerns about the lack of infrastructure in and around Heathridge for children to get active.
Local input was sought by Ms Hamilton, who doorknocked and called nearby residents, distributed flyers, e-newsletters and community information to share information about the project. Additionally, locals were invited to her Mobile Office events at both Lysander Park and nearby St Michaels Park in Connolly earlier this year to share their views.
The Heathridge BMX Track will cater for beginner BMX users, incorporating a loop circuit and an asphalt surface.
Three Chillies Design Pty Ltd is a specialist in design, construction and maintenance of pump and jump tracks.
During City of Joondalup’s community feedback period, Ms Hamilton submitted suggestions she had received from locals, including for new bench seating and shade and additional water fountains and taps for walkers and dogs.
The City of Joondalup is delivering this State Government funded project. According to the City, works are to commence in March 2025.
