Maintenance Blitz funding starts rolling out to schools in Joondalup

• From Monday 28 October, this first phase of funding starts rolling out to schools for maintenance projects
• Funding to address maintenance issues and create local jobs.
The McGowan Government recently announced a $200 million package to address maintenance works in public schools – and phase one has started to roll out this week.
All public schools, including 12 schools and two education support centres in the Joondalup electorate, will start receiving their maintenance allocation this week, as part of the job-creating Major Maintenance Blitz package.

The schools package will create 3,150 jobs across the State including electricians, painters, plumbers, builders and carpenters.
Schools will be encouraged to use local contractors to deliver these works and can use the McGowan Government’s ‘Direct to Market’ framework, which provides schools the ability to engage local contractors directly, without unnecessary red tape.
The major maintenance blitz represents one of the biggest investments in WA schools and builds on the $453 million investment in 2019-20 alone, to improve infrastructure in public schools and create jobs.
