Member for Joondalup Emily Hamilton and WA Labor candidate for Hillarys Caitlin Collins have committed funding to purchase six new high tech CCTV mobile units to be deployed across the City of Joondalup.

This election commitment will ensure local residents in Hillarys and Joondalup have an array of state-of-the-art anti-hoon technology dedicated to reducing disruptive and anti-social behaviour.

The CCTV capabilities enable WA police to view live footage, while providing the capacity to talk remotely through built-in speakers.

The solar powered units also include high resolution number plate recognition cameras.

Comments attributed to WA Labor Member for Joondalup Emily Hamilton:

“I’ve been able to advocate for our community and deterrents have been installed at Edgewater Train Station to prevent reckless and inconsiderate driver behaviour.

“Residents are telling me that they are still experiencing repeated nights of broken sleep and the stress of potential vehicle accidents. I have raised this with local police and the Police Minister and I will continue to advocate for our community to stop this appalling behaviour.

“The community plays a critical role in policing in WA and I encourage residents to report anti-social and illegal driver behaviour to police on 131 444.”

Comments attributed to WA Labor Candidate for Hillarys, Caitlin Collins:

“I have listened to many residents regarding their concerns about community safety and anti-social behaviour in our suburbs.

“We are tackling the issue of hoon driving and anti-social behaviour head on.”
