A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will deliver $40,000 for The Spiers Centre to support those experiencing homelessness.

The Spiers Centre, in Heathridge, provides assistance through emergency relief, financial counselling programs, provision of personal development programs and support groups.

The funding will allow The Spiers Centre to increase its capacity to support those experiencing homelessness.

The grant will provide homelessness packs for those experiencing homelessness, safety duress pendants for staff who provide outreach support in increasingly high risk situations and safety and well-being items to support staff and the increasing risk and demands to the services.

Comments by Emily Hamilton MLA, Member for Joondalup:

“The Spiers Centre is a community organisation based in Heathridge and since it’s foundation in 1980 has been supporting disadvantaged families in the northern suburbs. The centre provides a variety of services to relieve poverty, misfortune and distress to promote strong communities.

“It’s great to be able to support The Spiers Centre, which is such a valuable resource in our community.”
