Community calls for Joondalup Licensing Centre to reopen: Labor Members

  • Cook Labor Government MPs uniting to call for Joondalup Licensing Centre to reopen
  • Northern suburbs families deserve a licensing centre close to home
  • Reopened licensing centre would support State Government initiatives to make sitting a driving test fairer

The Joondalup Licensing Centre provided an important service for people across the northern suburbs when it opened in 2002.

Since its closure in May of this year, the community feedback has been clear in its call that the decision should be reversed.

Labor MPs across the northern suburbs are calling for the centre to be reopened to allow families to book driving tests closer to home – improving access and fairness.

A reopened licensing centre driving assessment service would support other State Government initiatives to improve fairness and access to practical driving assessments, including recent changes to the online booking systems to crack down on fraudsters.

Emily Hamilton, Joondalup MLA, recently raised the issue in the Western Australian Parliament in a statement put to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti.

The Cook Labor Government is committed to reassessing the role of the Joondalup Licensing Centre for families in the northern suburbs and has asked the Department to immediately investigate reopening the facility.
