Joondalup MP, Emily Hamilton, is pleased to announce that the Yalbunullup mountain bike trails at Yellagonga Regional Park are opening very soon.

Ms Hamilton invites you to a Community Opening Day on Sunday 1 December 2024. It’s a family event with a free sausage sizzle, refreshments, face painting and more.

Environment Minister, Hon. Reece Whitby MLA and Member for Joondalup, Ms Hamilton, will be at the event to celebrate the opening.

The name Yalbunullup was chosen in consultation with Traditional Owners and reflects the traditional Noongar name for the site.

Located off Lakeside Drive on the north-western side of Lake Joondalup, the new, 7-kilometre-long trail network has been designed to provide accessible, family-friendly mountain biking opportunities that complement the surrounding bushland setting.

There has been overwhelming support from the mountain biking community, who are excited to have a facility like this in the heart of the northern suburbs. It will be a place where community and young people can recreate, and where competitions can be held.

The trail corridors have been carefully designed to minimise impacts on natural and cultural values and to ensure long-term sustainability.

Other improvements to the area include a large shade pavilion, yarning circle and interpretive signage highlighting the area’s history and natural attractions, along with a new 100 bay free carpark and toilets.
